Performing for an audience of one.
Research indicates that there are certain negative aspects of performance-based identities, such as focusing too much on the external validation of success or failure.
Individuals who rely heavily on performance-based identity tend to become stressed and anxious—often unable to cope with their shortcomings and those of others around them.
People unaware of this performance-based identity may be prone to burnout due to putting too much pressure on themselves and not allowing for mistakes or failures in pursuit of success.
My Personal Best Coaching believes that performing for an audience of one is the solution to this problem.
To make this happen, we all must look at who we are performing for. Is it ourselves or those people in our past who expected so much from us?
